When my fiancée Olga and I decided to take part in a boudoir photo shoot in Playa del Carmen, Mexico with photographer Jorge Rodriguez, we had one goal: to celebrate her maternity journey and help her rediscover confidence in her changing body. Little did we know, this experience would not only highlight her beauty but also deepen our connection and leave us with unforgettable memories.
Our story started in British Columbia, Canada, where we felt an instant connection, almost like we had known each other before. Over time, we grew together, moved in, and now we’re getting ready to welcome our baby boy in April 2025. We’ve always shared a love for hiking, traveling, working out, and just experiencing life together. As we prepared for this new chapter of becoming parents, we decided to plan a trip to Mexico—a special time for just us before the baby arrives. It felt like the perfect chance to enjoy each other’s company and take in some relaxation.
The idea of a maternity boudoir shoot came from a desire to embrace Olga’s body in this transformative phase of life. Pregnancy brings so many changes, and it was important to us that she could see the beauty in her maternity body. A boudoir session felt like the perfect way to capture that – an intimate, artistic celebration of self-love and confidence.
We came across Jorge Rodriguez’s portfolio online, and his work immediately stood out. His photography doesn’t focus solely on the naked body but instead turns it into art. I knew Mexico would also be the perfect place to propose. She loves the ocean, the sound of the waves, and the peace it brings her. One evening, as the sun was setting and the sky was beautiful, I asked her to marry me. It was a simple, natural moment, but one we’ll never forget.
Jorge’s expertise as a photographer shone throughout the session. He guided us with gentle verbal cues to adjust our positions, ensuring each shot was as stunning as it could be. His professionalism, patience, and genuine care for his craft made the experience not only comfortable but enjoyable.
The entire shoot was filled with memorable moments, from the challenges of adjusting to the waves rolling to maintaining confidence as passersby walked along the beach. What could have been awkward or stressful instead became part of the fun, adding to the uniqueness of the experience.
The trip itself was exactly what we needed. We spent our time exploring, relaxing on the beach, and just soaking up the time together. It gave us a chance to slow down and really appreciate what we’ve built as a couple and what’s coming next.

If you choose an outdoor location like we did, be mindful of logistics – choosing accommodations closer to the coastal line near the nude beach area can simplify logistics and save you from a long walk. Most importantly, trust the process and embrace the moment.
For any couple expecting a baby, I’d recommend taking the time to connect before everything changes. That trip reminded us of what matters most—each other—and gave us memories we’ll always carry with us as we step into parenthood.

The couple stayed at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. After the shoot, they needed to return to their hotel. To make their journey easier, we requested access through Sandos Playacar. The security guard, in coordination with the security manager, verified their hotel wristbands and acknowledged the pregnancy situation. They were allowed to pass through the property specifically to take a taxi back to their resort, which saved them significant time and effort.
